Cornhole with Style!

For our anniversary gift this past fall, my father presented us with an unpainted cornhole game.

A blank canvas!!

My mind raced with ideas on how to decorate these pieces that we would hopefully enjoy for years to come. I decided that since they would most likely be stored in our garage, they should coordinate with the already established decor of black & white.

I had just finished making curtains for our large arch window in the garage (pictured below), so I headed to our local Jo-Ann fabric store to buy more of the same baroque-style fabric for the cornhole bags (with matching solid black for the other team).

My friend Greg, whom I have know since our Fashion Merchandising classes, happened to be working at Jo-Ann's that day and asked me what project I was working on now? I told him that I was "giving a red-neck game some style!" LOL!! He loved it, saying that was 'soooo me'!

Ok, fabric selection done. Now on to the actual boards. No ordinary design would do...sooooo... I found a collection of small fleur de lis type stencils at Hobby Lobby and inspiration hit! But I had to search Ebay for the middle stencil - a large 15 inch tall fleur de lis.

Looking back, I really cannot believe I went to all this work and trouble for a simple game of cornhole. Still, it's the little details that says a lot about a person. Might as well do it with style! :D
